December 2015 Income Report | $637.97 in Online Income

Welcome to my online business income report! I love reading the income reports of other bloggers and wanted to start sharing mine as a way to be transparent, as well as motivate myself (and hopefully others!) to create a successful business. I’ll also be including my traffic and social media stats as well as goal tracking since those are important parts of the business and it’ll help me keep track as I move forward.

Please note: Due to pregnancy + maternity leave I put my business (mostly) on hold for about a year between October 2014 – October 2015. This is me basically starting over! Just thought I should clarify.

JOURNEY TO $5,000/MONTH

Tracking my income is part of my goal to make $5,000 per month by October of 2016. I recently made that a goal and gave myself a year to achieve it. Join me on my journey!

WHAT’S INCLUDED

I include all of my online business income and expenses from blogging, design, and any of my other business income streams. The only income I don’t report are my Jamberry commissions (due to their policy to not share earnings) as well as any extra income I make selling items which I do regularly to simplify and declutter. All other sources of income and the related expenses will be shared here.

DECEMBER’S INCOME

I’m happy to report a significant increase in income again. I booked a design project and collected the deposit (50%) which was most of my income for the month. Other than that I did a few small orders with Fiverr while I had time. Google Adsense and Youtube Ads are very small amounts and I don’t see them increasing significantly in the near future. I may just combine these as “advertising” next month.

NOVEMBER’S INCOME

As much as this is not enough to live off of, I’m looking on the bright side in that my income in November was more than 6 times what it was in October. Baby steps, right? It’s definitely not the most I’ve ever made, but like I mentioned before I’m working on some other income streams because right now my main source of income is design work which fluctuates like crazy and is pretty slow around the holidays.

5 Ways to Make Your Existing Content Work For You

It’s been a little quiet around here lately as I’ve been working behind the scenes to make this blog everything I want it to be. Here’s the thing, I’ve been blogging for years. The last year or two I’ve been really focusing on great, helpful content and for some reason my traffic just hasn’t caught up to where I’d assume it would be. So rather than spending time on new content I’ve been working on making my existing content work for me. Here are some of the steps I’m currently taking.

Amp Up Social Media Sharing (& Consistency!)

To be honest, I’ve been kind of half-assing social media since… forever. I pop in here and there, schedule some posts here and there, and am just generally super flaky because I “don’t have time” to deal with it. But what’s the point of spending lots of time and energy creating great posts when I’m not even sharing them with the people who are following me? Duh. So I’ve been working on my social media strategy which I’ll talk about in more depth in a future post.

October’s Income

I didn’t do so good last month! I’m still adjusting to being a work at home mom and some days (most days) I’m mostly mom and can only fit an hour or two of work in at the end of the day. I am working on several things behind the scenes that aren’t ready to bring any income, but I know it will come! This is an abnormally low month for me as I usually have at least a little design income, but I just haven’t had any inquiries that have panned out and I haven’t had the time to really market my services.

Free To Do List Printable with Attitude

Nothing like a quirky little to do list to brighten your day, right? I love switching it up and I thought I was just so clever when I came up with these. While using them I’d find myself doing one of those tiny laugh-snorts whenever I read the title of the to do list for the day.

The Simple Way I Manage To Do Lists with Evernote

Evernote is my brain, my best friend, my obsession. I’m pretty sure I’m not even using it to it’s full capacity, but I do want to share how I manage my to do lists with Evernote. Each week I have certain things I want to accomplish each day. I can’t say it enough, but my previously mile long lists have become much shorter and more realistic since I’ve become a mom.

My “Get Shit Done” Notebook

Literally, this notebooks sole purpose is to house my weekly to do lists. Not only does it keep things organized, but I love looking back at previous weeks to see what I managed to get done.

Master To Do List

One of my secrets to making sure things get done is to have a master to do list. Since I like to have one list for the whole week and I have quite a few things that happen on the same day each week, it’s easy to just be able to copy and paste this into the current week.

Top 10 Must Have Blogging Tools

I’m no blogging newbie. I’ve been blogging since 2009 and I’ve explored probably hundreds of different tools and resources for blogging. It’s always changing as my blog changes and new tools pop up, but below are my absolute must have blogging tools at the moment.

Squarespace

I recently talked about my decision to move to squarespace. I do still adore (and kind of miss) Wordpress, but I’m standing my by decision that Squarespace is exactly what I need right now. The simplicity and out of the box beautiful styling and customization options are the reason I’m so in love.
