afewofmyfavoritethingsaugustThe blogging world, or life in general, is full of wish lists, photos and visual collections of things we’d love to have. In my effort to simplify, get back to the basics and love what I have, I’m going to regularly be sharing a few of MY favorite things (and maybe some non-things). As in, things that I love that are already part of my life, rather than things that I’m lusting after.

Spotify is on all day, everyday around here. I cringe at paying $10/month for music, but the fact that I can look up basically any song that pops into my head on my computer and phone and instantly listen to it? Totally worth it. I have a running playlist of random music from Elton John to Nelly to Taylor Swift to Something Corporate to Disney songs.

Gardein Meatless Breaded Cutlets from Costco are SO good, Blaine and I are both obsessed. I’ve been a vegetarian for over 6 years now and I always tried to stay away from fake meat products. I feel like it’s almost cheating and they’re made of a lot of random ingredients that don’t go with my goal to keep my diet as whole food based as possible. But man oh man, we got these and I LOVE them. I certainly don’t have fake meat for every meal, but I love these chopped up with a salad or with some pasta. I couldn’t find them on the website, but they sell a large bag of 16 cutlets at costco for just under $10. (photo credit since I couldn’t find them online)

Getting dressed like a normal person. That can be a favorite thing right? Because I’m loving it. Over the last week or so I’ve done a lot better about getting dressed. It helps that I went on a mini shopping spree at Cotton On during a really good sale. I haven’t shopped like that in years and it’s nice to get some good basics to mix and match. Of course, I’ll be purging my closet of a few items to make up for the handful of stuff I brought home. Getting dressed for the day, doing my hair and just making myself look a little better than messy bun/yoga pants/tank top daily really helps me feel better and more productive throughout the day.

Blender Bottles are amazing. The weird thing is I don’t even use them for shakes which is what they’re made for. The bottle comes with a little wire ball to mix powders into liquid, but I just use mine for water. Blaine uses his for chocolate milk and water.  They travel well, snap shut tight and don’t leak like past water bottles. We had one for a while that Blaine and I would always fight over and for the last few months I haven’t been able to find it so I finally bought 2 more so we could each have one.

I’m thinking about making this feature a monthly link up! Let me know in the comments if you’d be interested in linking up  and what a few of your current favorites are.
