My moms side of the family is huge. I’ve tried counting my cousins, but I can never remember. I can say it’s probably around the high 20’s. My mom has 4 brothers and 3 sisters, so a huge family is inevitable. I love the warm feeling of a house stuffed with the people who are the most important to me.
But when I get to thinking about my future children, I realize they probably won’t have that. The reason my family is so close is because of all my aunts an uncles. Once all the cousins are grown (we’re definitely getting there), I don’t see us all having as close of ties because we’re all cousins, rather than brothers and sisters. It’s really sad to me that there’s a good chance my children won’t be able to experience the joys of a large family the way I have. I think that’s the reason that I want lots of kids. Blaine is a little weary of that situation. He doesn’t mind kids, but he prefers furkids, which we have plenty of.
The movie Yours, Mine & Ours is always fun for me to watch. I love the moms family. A home of chaos and love and children and pets. I would love nothing more than to have that craziness be my life.
Apparently, the Yours, Mine & Ours that I’ve seen is a remake of an older version made in 1968 starring Henry Fonda & Lucille Ball! I need to find that ASAP. I’ve already added it to my Netflix queue.
